A hacksaw is a fine-toothed saw, mainly used for cutting metal or plastic. The equivalent saw for cutting wood is called a bow saw.
Hacksaws only cut on the push stroke. Reduce your downward pressure when pulling the blade back to reset your stroke.
Prepare Before Use
• Secure your material with clamps if it is not secured to a structure.
• Select the appropriate blade
• Harder steel blades are required for cutting thick steel
• More teeth will produce a finer cut while fewer, larger teeth will cut faster and leave a rough edge.
• Tighten the wing nut or tightening mechanism to desired tension.
• Mark your cut path with a firm push stroke.
Tool Tips
• Hacksaws only cut on the push stroke. Reduce your downward pressure when pulling the blade back to reset your stroke to save energy and preserve your blade’s sharpness.
• Add a drop of machine oil to metal cuts to reduce heat, lower friction, and minimize the spread of fine metal particles.
• Rough edges can be filed down or sanded.
Eye Protection and Gloves are highly recommended when cutting metal!
