We're exited to have @KnarlyKnart teach us how to beautifully mend clothing using functional embroidery. Bring something to repair or learn stiches on a piece of fabric to transfer your new skills. Free. No experience required.

East County Learn. Share. Do. Fair | Saturday, February 22nd

10 am — 2 pm* | Centennial High School | 3505 SE 182nd Ave. (Google Maps)

Get your broken items repaired for free by skilled volunteers. Rockwood Common will be sharpening garden tools alongside many other fixers. Repair items repaired at this event:

  • Clothing: mending tears, replacing buttons & more.
  • Appliances: lamps, fans, clocks, vacuums, small kitchen appliances. (no microwaves)
  • Jewelry: repairing clasps, earring hooks (no fine jewelry).
  • Garden Tool Sharpening: pruning shears, loppers, shovels, spades, etc. (no handsaws, knives or power tools).

Please note: bikes, electronics, televisions, microwaves, small engines and sewing machines are not repairable at this event.

1 item at a time per person. Persons may re-enter the waitlist for a second item repair, as time allows.

Replacement parts required, as needed.

*Registered repairs will continue until 2 pm. No new repairs may be registered after 1 pm.

The Gresham Repair Cafe is organized in partnership with the Coalition of Gresham Neighborhood AssociationsGresham Free Swaps and City's Sustainability and Solid Waste Division.


Free Clothing Swap | Saturday, February 22nd

Clean coats and winter clothing in good repair is this event's featured swap item. "Shop" for previously loved clothes and bring some to share with others.  

  • Find original styles not in stores. 
  • Extend the lifespan of clothes already in circulation.
  • Be environmentally friendly and economical by wearing secondhand items.
You don't need to donate clothing or have anything repaired to participate in the swap. Please bring your own bag. Master Recyclers will be available to answer questions about reuse and waste prevention.

Hand Sewing Workshop | TBD

Learn basic hand stiches that can be used for simple projects and mending. Plus button repair, needle threading techniques and more. Create a take home project with your new skills. No experience required. Free. Materials provided or bring your own.
